or without the letters at the end of the verb.

- picture cards
containing both single and multiple items, eg , a
car , two children. three lions.(Subject cards)

the present tense., eg, swims, run, find, or any
other familiar action words. Include both forms ,
eg, swim and swims. Always one action word per
card. (Verb Agreememt cards).
- Place a mixture of subject and action word cards
in a pile face down and have each student select
the top card from the pile in his or her turn.
Students are to try and find a match for his or
her card to make a complete sentence.
Student pair will place their
sentence in proper order in a card holder or
similar display.
As soon as sentence is displayed,
students may choose each another card and look
for the appropriate partner and continue to form
sentences until all the cards have been matched.
With class seated in front of
card display, have each student pair , in order
of sentence placement, come to the display and
read their sentence. Ask if any student thinks
the sentence is incorrect. If so, have student
state the action verb necessary to make the
sentence correct.
When all sentences are read by
their creators, have all sentences reread by the
entire class, as a choral reading exercise.
Option 2: Have student pair each
print their sentence in their exercises or on the
chalkboard.
Option 3: Using improvisation,
have student, or student pairs assume the role of
animals or career persons.
Have action cards face down on a
desk. Each student, student pair, or student
group, in turn, identifies the assumed role(s).
An action card is now taken from
the top of the pile and the student(s) try to
make a sentence using the assumed role and the
action.
E.g., We are dragons. We play with fire.
