Language One: Initial Consonant Blends Learning Outcomes Students will: - recognize and use initial consonant blends Activity: FILE FOLDER GAMES: Design file folder games by pasting pictures on the outer edge of a file folder. By each picture make 3 holes, placing a consonant blend by each hole. These can be made self correcting by circling the correct hole on the other side of the folder. The student will make his selsction by poking a pencil through the hole by the blend he thinks is the correct one. This can be a great partner game as well. WORKSHEETS: Design worksheets in which a picture is presented and the word is beneath the picture with the missing blend represented by blanks. Students must choose the blend from several given. For a more challenging task the student must insert the blend without any choices supplied. BIG BOOK: Make rhyming words for students'names and turn into a big book. For example: Ann becomes Drann and Amy becomes Dramy (for DR ) but will be Frann and Framy(for FR) and Spann and Spamy (for SP) etc. The opening sentence could be: If __________'s name began with________ it would be__________________.
