Leap into Language 3								
					Pronouns

The student will be able to use pronouns consistent in number and gender with nouns to which 
they refer.

Activity one:  Students have word cards with the pronouns, he,him,she,her,it,you,I,we,us,they, 
and them.  Teacher writes or states a sentence asking which pronoun can be substituted for a 
particular noun (it can be done as an oral cloze activity.) Students hold up the appropriate 
card.

Activity two: 
Pronoun Hunt: Students list all the pronouns to be found on one page or an entire selection 
in the prescribed anothology or take-home library book.

Activity three: Worksheets
Design worksheets in which students choose an appropriate pronoun for the underlined noun or 
students do a cloze activity inserting the appropriate pronouns.

Activity four: Students listen and write down the pronouns they hear as their teacher reads 
a selection to the class.

Assessment: Make anecdotal observations of students during the above activities and evaluate 
worksheets.
