Math 2 - Snap Cube Collections Learning Outcomes: Students will add two digit numbers with regrouping. Activity: Provide pairs of students with sets of snap cubes of between 12 and 27. Have students snap their cubes into sets of 10 and some leftover. Ask students to combine their sets. Do you have enough single cubes to make another "train" of 10 cubes? Have students write down the equation that tells about their collections. By having students trade partners, but keeping the same set of cubes, students will practice with several different combinations. Assessment: Observe children as they work: Are they looking to see if they can make another 10? Can they create the appropriate equation for their sets?
