Math 2 - Card Collections

Learning outcomes

Students will add two digit numbers with regrouping.

Activity - (also appropriate for a home activity)

Have students bring to school their own collections (for example - stickers, trading cards etc.)
Encourage students to count their collections and put them in groups of 10's with any extra "leftover"

Have students work in pairs to determine how many items they would have if they combined their collections.
Encourage them to look for other groups of 10.
Have students write an equation that shows the result of combining their collections.

Assessment:

Observe students as they work.
Do they:
	Automatically look for groups of 10 when combining the sets.
	Write an appropriate equation to show the results of combining their collections.
