Math 2 - Collection Stories

Learning outcomes
Students will add two digit numbers with regrouping.

Activity - Writing collection stories.

Provide students with two collections each with between 12 and 27 items.

Have the students create, through writing and/or drawing, a story problem 
about their collections. 

Encourage students to share their story problems with their classmates and 
try to solve each other's problems.



Assessment:
Observe the students as they work.
Do they:
	Write combining stories?
	Use appropriate mathematical language?
	

The collected story problems can also be used to assess students understanding 
of the concept of regrouping.
