Math 2:  Sorting Fractions

Learning Outcomes

Students will identify simple fractions (one half, one third, one fourth) using models 
and will explore the concept of a fraction as a "fair share".

Activity:   Sorting Fractions

Materials:
	Fraction cards with pictures illustrating halves, thirds, and fourths.

Provide children with a set of fraction cards.  Ask them to sort the fractions into piles:

Halves
Thirds
Fourths.

Assessment:
Observe students as they sort.
	Are they using appropriate language to describe the fractions?
