Converting Length and Time


Learning Outcomes

Students will:
  • be able to convert feet to inches and days to hours.

Activity

  • Arrange the students in groups of 4


  • Provide each group with a worksheet of 10 problems which require converting feet to inches and days to hours. Be sure to leave adequate space, after each problem, for the students to show their workings. For example:

    1. Mary visited her cousin for 3 days. How many hours is that? ________
    2. Bobby has a fishing rod that is 5 feet long. How many inches long is the rod? _________

  • Each group discusses and solves each problem, showing their workings in the area below each problem

Assessment Tips from Old Tom the Turtle

  • Following the completion of the worksheet, have the groups share their solutions before displaying the correct answers and workings on the chalkboard.
