Swim into Social Studies 2: Cultures Learning Outcomes: Children will: - know the basic components of culture (e.g., language, beliefs and customs, forms of shelter, education systems) Activity: Working in groups, the group will select a culture they wish to research. You may wish to offer suggestions ( Chinese, Russian, Native American, British) according to the information or facilities available locally (library, resource centre, internet, etc.). Each group should prepare a presentation on the particular culture they research. Children should be encouraged to use a multimedia format for the presentation. Assessment: Observe the groups' abilities to successfully research the culture and note the confidence and ease with which they prepare their presentations.
