OPERATION ONLINE’S NEW MEDIA INITIATIVE News Release, August 28, 1997
In March 1997, Operation ONLINE invited interested companies to submit proposals for assistance for the development and commercialization of products or services in the Software, Multimedia and Information Highway content creation areas. Operation ONLINE encouraged proposals in fields with emerging opportunities such as health information, education, marine services, multi-media, and cultural applications. The evaluation process was a competitive one. The independent project review committee evaluated the proposals based on innovative approach, market potential and a proven tract record with similar research and development projects. Nine projects valued at $1.95 million, received a total of $902,348 from Operation ONLINE. MULTI-MEDIA HEALTHCARE TRAINING INNOVA Multimedia and the Bay St. George Campus of the College of the North Atlantic will develop a comprehensive multi-media instructional package to provide continuing education for health care workers. This product deals specifically with the Infection Control and will be distributed to resource centers of health care institutions and other locations both provincially and nationally.
